In many cases the female actresses are actually shaved in real-life but they are forced to wear a "merkin patch" a fake pubic hair patch to cover the area to prevent any of their genitalia from being seen. It is all due to the corrupt, sexist MPAA that does not allow female genitalia to be shown in R-rated movies.

Time for another MPAA-related rant. That's not what this column is about. Instead, it's about one of the reasons for the R-rating. According to the MPAA's content description, it is rated R for "graphic nudity" amongst other things. I can't recall having seen that phrase used before to elaborate on a rating. But not "graphic nudity. Was I about to see a close-up of a vagina or a penis?
